16th of November - campaign an apple for a cigarette

On the 16^th of November the 8^th graders and the 11^th IB students participated in an event organized by the municipality. All the students went under the agenda an apple for a cigarette. The students from PSHS American college Arcus had created posters and coffins for the cigarettes.

What I learned Is that this campaign has its beginning in the early 1970s in the States. The founders of this campaign are the association that fights with lung cancer and it is celebrated every 3^rd Tuesday of November.

The group of the students was split into two. One stayed outside and gave balloons for the non-smokers with wishes and an apple for the smokers. I was from the group that went into the building of the municipality and met personally with the mayor Daniel Panov.

I was given the task to explain to the mayor why we were participating in this event and then we briefly discussed the upcoming generations of young smokers and could be done to prevent the massive percentage.

What I learned from my participation in this meeting with the mayor is that I shouldn’t  have fear of expressing my opinion in public places because it  is  my own opinion and there are always going to be people agreeing with it and disagreeing.
